Unistat® Thermal Fluid 'DW-Therm'
11/22/07 The company DWS Synthesetechnik has specialised in the development, production and testing of functional fluids for extreme applications. Dr Peter Wilharm, who first started the company, is a specialist for difficult cases. He has developed a heat transfer oil especially for the HUBER Unistat® series of thermostats, which covers a temperature range from -90°C to +200°C.
Daniel Huber: "The thermal fluid should have as large a working range as possible to fully use the performance of the Unistat®, and it would be best if it tasted like the red wine from Baden". Except for the last point, all expectations have been fulfilled. The newly developed fluid was first demonstrated under the name of "DW-Therm" to a wide spectrum of people at the Analytica exhibition 2000, and continues to find a good resonance.
The clear fluid has a pleasant aromatic smell. It is easy to remove, leaves no residue, and is not toxic. The viscosity data, flashpoint, boiling point and density allow heat transfer in closed systems for a very large range of applications.
Dr. Wilharm: "Huber lives the company motto 'it takes two to tango'. Our partnership was an essential building block of my independence today. Huber offered us free of charge a Unistat® 385w HT for operating our reaction calorimiter RC1 from Mettler to help in the development of a thermal fluid. Our customers benefit from our particular knowledge and experience in the areas: * Thermo Oxidation resistant oil for the high temperature range to 400°C (without pressure!) * Thermal fluid for low temperatures (down to -90°C) * Functional fluids based on Silicon-organics The newest development "DW-Therm HT" is a new custom made high temperature oil especially for the new Huber 400°C Unistat® CC400. It will shortly be availabe in sample quantities.
